Colin Crosby Heritage Tours

Free Mystery Tour (A Coach Trip in Leicestershire)

The “Free Mystery Tour” is a Coach Trip run annually by Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, the Leicester-based Blue Badge Guide, as just one element of his year-round programme of walks and visits.

These excursions are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 9.30am and is due back around 2pm.

The trip is free, and of course tickets go very quickly.

Colin began running this trip in 1995. It is to celebrate International Day of the Tourist Guide, when guides across Europe give their services, mostly for Guided Walks.

The idea is to show that you are much better off being shown around any place, and being given a good idea of its history and heritage as well as its important points today, by a proper trained guide.

The tour is of course a Mystery Tour, so it is obviously not possible to give an itinerary.

But it shows, in essence, the beauty and history of Leicestershire and the lovely East Midlands.

The route changes each time, so even if you have been on one of the trips, another will show you more.

Some of the towns that may well feature on the route are Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Grantham, Loughborough, Lutterworth, Market Bosworth, Market Harborough, Melbourne, Melton Mowbray, Newark, Repton, Shepshed, Stamford, Tamworth, Oakham and Uppingham.

Villages that might be included are Barrow-upon-Soar, Billesdon, Breedon-on-the-Hill, Castle Donington, Diseworth, Hallaton, Kibworth, Medbourne, Mountsorrel, Quorn, Rothley, Shardlow and Woodhouse Eaves.
