Waterside Mountsorrel (A Guided Walk in Mountsorrel)

[An image showing Waterside Mountsorrel]“Waterside Mountsorrel” is one of the popular Waterside Walks devised and led by Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, the well-known Blue Badge Guide.

These strolls are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

The walk starts at Stonehurst Farm, on the old A6 in the North end of Mountsorrel, outside the tearoom.

The route for this walk leads out along the intriguingly-named Betty Henser’s Lane, and across the fields to the River Soar, which is crossed by the One Man Bridge, before arriving at Barrow-upon-Soar where the river meets the canal.

This is followed by a lovely stroll beside the river and under the 1860 Bridge, and back to the old market town of Mountsorrel.

Colin leads another walk, looking at the historic aspects of the village, called simply “Mountsorrel”, and some Christmas-themed walks, “Ding Dong Merrily On High”, “The Holly and the Ivy” and “Who is Santa Claus?”, all starting at Stonehurst Farm.

Other Waterside Walks devised and led by Colin are “Waterside Abbey Park”, “Waterside Aylestone”, “Waterside Aylestone”, “Waterside Birstall”, “Waterside Charnwood”, “Waterside Glenhills”, “Waterside Glen Parva”, “Waterside Hinckley”, “Waterside Leicester”, “Waterside London”, “Waterside Loughborough”, “Waterside Loughborough and Barrow-upon-Soar”, “Waterside Market Harborough”, “Waterside Quorn and Barrow-upon-Soar”, “Waterside Thurmaston” and “Waterside West End”.
