Waterside Aylestone (A Guided Walk in Leicester)

[An image showing Waterside Aylestone]“Waterside Aylestone” is a Guided Walk devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, and is part of his Waterside Walks series.

These strolls are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

The walk starts outside St. Andrews Church, Aylestone, which is situated in Middleton Street.

The route for this walk takes in the River Soar, the canal and the Great Central Way, as well as the mysterious River Biam, looking at the complicated waterways to the South of Leicester City Centre.

Along the way three locks will come into view, as well as a number of interesting bridges, including a famous mediaeval packhorse bridge.

Other walks in the Aylestone area include “Old Aylestone” and “Aylestone Meadows”.

A place on 'Waterside Aylestone' costs £5.00 per person, or £4.00 if paying in advance. The guided walk begins at St. Andrews Church, Aylestone, and is running on:
