Waterside Glen Parva (A Guided Walk in Glen Parva)

“Waterside Glen Parva” is one of the popular series of Waterside Walks devised and led by the well-known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These strolls are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

This walk starts outside the County Arms, the 1930s pub (now unfortunately closed) on the corner of Leicester Road and Little Glen Road in Glen Parva.

The route follows the canal, with the River Sence coming into view on several occasions.

On the way, the outstanding church of St. Thomas at South Wigston can be seen, as well as Crow Mills, the idyllic Blaby Cemetery and Glen Ford.

Towards the end of the walk, there is a visit to the moated site of the old manor house of Glen Parva.

Colin also leads a number of other Waterside Walks, namely “Waterside Abbey Park”, “Waterside Aylestone”, “Waterside Belgrave”, “Waterside Birstall”, “Waterside Charnwood”, “Waterside Glenhills”, “Waterside Hinckley”, “Waterside Leicester”, “Waterside London”, “Waterside Loughborough”, “Waterside Loughborough and Barrow-upon-Soar”, “Waterside Market Harborough”, “Waterside Mountsorrel”, “Waterside Quorn and Barrow-upon-Soar”, “Waterside Thurmaston” and “Waterside West End”.
