The Haunted City (A Guided Walk in Leicester)
"The Haunted City" is a very popular Guided Walk devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Cosby Heritage Tours.
These strolls are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.
It is of course one of his series of Haunted walks, on which people come to hear about ghostly goings on in the city and elsewhere.
The starting point for this walk is the Clock Tower in Leicester City Centre.
Leicester seems to have far more than its fair share of phantoms. This is possibly because it is one of England's oldest towns, so there has been more time for the ghostly population to accumulate.
"The Haunted City" looks mostly at the Victorian parts of old Leicester, visiting at least one old churchyard and the sites of former factories, pubs and places of entertainment.
On the way, stories will be told about the Queen travelling to her execution, the lady of the night who danced on tables and the murdered bellringer.
Colin will also recount an unearthly encounter he had while managing a cinema in London's Kings Cross, and will invite details of experiences from those talking part in the walk.
There are a number of other Haunted walks which Colin leads, including "Haunted Leicester", "Walk in Dread", "The Shades of Night", "Goosepimples", "Haunted Belgrave" and "Tales for Halloween", as well as two in London, "Haunted London" and "The Haunted Capital".
