Deck the Halls (A Guided Walk in Leicester)
“Deck the Halls” is a Guided Walk in Leicester for the Christmas season devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
Colin's walks are an enjoyable way of learning some Local History.
The starting point for this walk is the Clock Tower in the City Centre.
The purpose of the walk is to look at all the decorated and illuminated streets and shops, not to mention the Christmas trees, in Leicester.
Few cities in England go to town so much with their Christmas decorations as Leicester, and for the last few years there have been special Christmas events organised around the centre, especially in Humberstone Gate.
Colin will be leading the party around the best streets, including the High Street, Gallowtree Gate, Humberstone Gate, Church Gate and Market Street.
There will also be a look at the two indoor shopping centres, The Shires and The Haymarket Centre, and at the famous Leicester Market.
One of the high spots is undoubtedly Town Hall Square, which always looks suitably festive with its tableaux featuring children’s favourites, and the traditional Crib.
Other walks devised and led specially for Christmas by Colin Crosby include “The Holly and the Ivy”, “Ding Dong Merrily on High”, “Mediaeval Leicester at Christmas” and “The Ghosts of Christmas”.
