St. Andrews Church, Aylestone (Leicester)

St. Andrews is the parish church of Aylestone, one of the old villages that are now part of the City of Leicester.

It is situated in Middleton Street, on the corner of Old Church Street. Middleton Street is the street that becomes Braunstone Lane, and is a short distance away from Aylestone Road.

St. Andrews dates from the 13th century, and has for centuries attended to the spiritual needs of the people of Aylestone.

According to legend, when Dorothy Vernon, daughter of George Vernon, King of the Peak, eloped from Haddon Hall near Bakewell with John Manners, they were married at St. Andrews.

The church is regularly open for worship.
