Hallaton Treasure to Tour the Country

[An image showing Hallaton Treasure to Tour the Country]Artefacts from the major archaeological find at Hallaton in Leicestershire are to tour the country, to allow the maximum amount of people to see them.

In 2000 an Iron Age site was discovered, which yielded hoards of silver and gold coins, silver artefacts, a Roman helmet and thousands of bones which had been ritually buried.

The find is very important indeed, only those at Sutton Hoo and Prittlewell being of more significance.

The Hallaton Treasure Travelling Exhibition is being launched at Leicestershire`s County Hall at Glenfield on Monday 27th July, and will be on display at the Jewry Wall Museum in Leicester the following Saturday, before spending three months at the museum at Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

It will then visit towns around Leicestershire before going on a nationwide tour.
