War Memorial (Quorn)

[An image showing War Memorial]The War Memorial in the Leicestershire village of Quorn is in a pleasant garden.

This is in the centre of the village, at Quorn Cross on the old A6 road between Leicester and Loughborough.

The memorial shows St. George, the patron saint of England, and gives the dates of the First World War as 1914 - 19. People often have a problem with this, but although the fighting stopped in 1914, the documents agreeing to an end to war were not finally signed until 1919.

There is a low wall and steps on the far side of the garden. This is part of Quorn's flood defences. On the other side is the Buddon Brook, which flows into the River Soar.
