Navigation Inn (Barrow-upon-Soar)
The Navigation Inn is a waterside pub in the fascinating Leicestershire village of Barrow-upon-Soar.
It stands beside the Barrow Cut, a short stretch of canal which was created in the late 18th century, to avoid water traffic having to go round the long meander of the River Soar through Quorn.
It is actually in Mill Lane, which led originally to a hamlet by the watermill.
Near the Navigation is the point where the stretch of canal divides from the river, as it flows Northwards from Leicester.
There is a marina on the other side of the canal, which is a useful place for boaters and walkers, as it has a small shop and tea rooms. It is possible to hire boats from here.
