Victims of Jack the Ripper (A Guided Walk in Leicester)
“Victims of Jack the Ripper” is an atmospheric Guided Walk around Old Leicester devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These strolls are a most enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.
This walk starts outside the Town Hall, and the route leads through the oldest parts of Leicester, including the area around St. Mary de Castro Church and Leicester Castle.
During the walk, Colin speaks of the five known victims of this infamous murderer whose awful crimes terrified Victorian London, as well as other women who were murdered, possibly by the Ripper. All the murders were committed in the East End of London.
There is also discussion as to the identity of the Ripper. Among the many suspects are a member of the Royal Family, a famous painter, the secretary to a famous religious figure – and a man from Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
Colin also leads a very popular walk, entitled “Jack the Ripper”, which visits the actual places around the Whitechapel area of London where the murders were committed.
