Vale of Belvoir Tour (A Coach Trip in Leicestershire)
The "Vale of Belvoir Tour" is one of the Coach Trips devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These trips are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.
This is one of the morning trips, which concentrate on the Leicestershire area, and are popular with those who would prefer not to be out all day.
In this instance, the tour is around the very attractive Vale of Belvoir, in the North East part of the county, close to the borders with Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in the centre of Leicester at 9.30am, and is due back about 2p.
The format on these excursions is that passengers stay on the coach for almost all the morning, while Colin gives his inimitable commentary, but there is a stop about halfway round at a pleasant and interesting location, where one can buy tea, coffee, cakes etc.
Interesting places in the area include Melton Mowbray, the fascinating market town famous for pork pies and Stilton chees; Croxton Kerrial, with its never-failing waterspout; and the majestic fairytale Belvoir Castle, dominating the neighbourhood on its highly impressive hill.
And the countryside in the area is quite beautiful.
