A Midsummer Nights Haunt (A Guided Walk in Leicester)
“A Midsummer Nights Haunt” is a ghostly walk around Old Leicester devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These walks are an enjoyable way of learning some Local History.
The walk starts outside St. Mary de Castro Church.
It takes place on Midsummer Eve, traditionally one of the most haunted nights of the year, when the borders between the land of the living and the land of the dead are blurred, so that it is easier to move from one to the other.
During the walk, Colin tells many ghost stories. Leicester is actually one of the oldest towns in Britain, and certainly has more than its fair share of phantoms.
The route of “A Midsummer Nights Haunt” leads through the yard of Leicester Castle, past John of Gaunts Cottage and the Turret Gateway, and around the half-forgotten area where the Black Friars had their friary.
When taking part in this walk, do make sure that the person standing next to you is a real living being.
