Coach Trip Introduces Lovely Maldon
I led one of my popular Coach Trips recently for Leicester people.
This time it was into my native county, Essex, for a visit to "Maldon".
As usual, we left St. Margarets Bus Station in the morning, and proceeded this time South Eastwards, making our coffee stop at the Blake House Craft Centre at Blake End. This is always a popular stop.
From there, we moved down to Maldon, passing the fabulous barns at Cressing Temple.
I led a Guided Walk around Maldon, showing such delights as the unique triangular-towered All Saints Church, the sublime Promenade Park beside the Blackwater estuary and the distinctive Thames barges moored on the quayside.
On the way back, we stopped at Northampton (formerly Rothersthorpe) Services.
My Visitors` Book included these comments. "A wonderful day in Maldon, it was a beautiful day, sunny but very windy by the estuary", "good scenic trip, interesting guided walk", "great High Street" and "a most enjoyable day out. A lovely place with lots of history - the guided walk was excellent".
If you missed this trip, you can get a flavour of Maldon by coming on the "Maldon and the Dengie Hundred" trip next year.
