St. John the Baptist Church (Margate)
St. John the Baptist is the parish church of Margate, on the Isle of Thanet in Kent.
It is situated in the High Sreet, but a good way from the seaside, as is common with towns and villages which have extended towards the sea.
The North West tower, with a shingled broach spire, was built in the 14th century, but raised during Ewan Christian`s restoration in 1875.
There is a North doorway from around 1300, and earlier features inside, including sedilia and piscina.
Until 1275, this was a chapel of Minster-in-Thanet.
