Norton-juxta-Twycross

Norton-juxta-Twycross is a small village in Leicestershire, 6 miles from Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Holy Trinity Church dates back to the 12th century, with a 14th century tower.

In the grounds of the Rectory is the famous Twycross Zoo, set up by Molly Badham. There are animals here of every kind, but the zoo's speciality is primates. It was here that the original PG Tips tea party was filmed.

Nearby Gopsall Hall was the home of Charles Jennens, who wrote the words for "The Messiah", which Handel partly wrote here. The hall was demolished in 1851.
