Market Bosworth Lanes (A Guided Walk in Market Bosworth)

“Market Bosworth Lanes” is a delightful Guided Walk in the Leicestershire countryside, devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These strolls are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

The starting point for this walk is the Market Place in the pleasant market town of Market Bosworth.

The walk follows a route out of the little town towards Shenton, after a while reaching the Ashby Canal and the preserved stretch of railway known as the Battlefield Line.

It then goes through the area where one of the most fateful battles in English history was fought. In 1485 Richard III lost his crown and his life at the Battle of Bosworth, and the Tudor dynasty came to power.

Then the route touches the edge of Sutton Cheney and returns to Market Bosworth by way of a gated road past the parkland which was formerly part of the Bosworth Hall estate.

Colin also leads a walk around the town, which is simply entitled “Market Bosworth”.
