Trip to See the Lindisfarne Gospels
I spent a weekend with my wife Anne in the North East recently, for he purpose of seeing the Lindisfarne Gospels.
We stayed at Prudhoe, with our son Laura and his partner Laura.
We travelled up on the Friday, making a stop along the way at Wetherby Services.
On the Saturday, we travelled to the historic cathedral city of Durham, where the Gospels were on display. It was a very fine exhibition. Afterwards, we spent some time in the wonderful Durham Cathedral.
We travelled back to Leicester on the Sunday, making some stops along the way. First stop was at the iconic Angel of the North at Gateshead, and from there we went to the Anglo-Saxon church at Escomb. Then it was Boroughbridge, to see the monoliths known as the Devil`s Arrows.
And then we had a brief stop at Ferrybridge Services before arriving home.
It was a good weekend, seeing a lot of interesting things.
