New Look Bosworth Battlefield
A group of guides and others from the tourist industry visited Bosworth Battlefield recently.
This excellent tourist attraction is just outside the delightful little Leicestershire town of Market Bosworth, and is the site of the battle where Richard III lost his crown and his life and the Tudor dynasty came to power.
The visit was organised by John McDonald of Town and County Tours. Apart from myself, another Blue Badge Guide in attendance was Roger Bailey from Coventry.
We were all very impressed indeed at the improvements that have been made to the site, especially the interpretation section.
There is an interactive film showing the course of the battle, and other displays showing the history of battles generally, and the story of the Wars of the Roses, and other incidentals such as the intricacies of the armour worn by the combatants.
We were also shown how the mediaeval-style buildings outside are being constructed.
Even if you've been before, go again - it has been very much improved.
