Leicester's Major Good Friday Event
Leicester will again this year be the setting for what is believed to be the biggest Good Friday event in the country.
“Christ in the Centre” takes place on Friday 14th April, around the City Centre.
Actors play the parts of Jesus and the other major characters in the story of His arrest, trial and crucifixion, such as Pontius Pilate, Judas Iscariot and Peter, and thousands of people always turn out to watch and follow the action from place to place.
The event starts outside Leicester Cathedral and moves on to the Market Place and then outside the Town Hall, culminating in Humberstone Gate.
The crowds have grown every year, and “Christ in the Centre” is seen as bringing the story of Easter to many people for whom Easter just means chocolate eggs.
