Derwent Valley Coach Tour
I recently led another of my popular Coach Trips from Leicester. This time it was the "Derwent Valley Tour", and I gave my normal commentary along the way.
Setting off as usual from St. Margarets Bus Station, we made a coffee stop at the impressive National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas.
Then it was up into Derbyshire, and the first proper stop was at Belper, a splendid little town beside the River Derwent.
From there we travelled through the Peak District, through some of the lovely dales, and made a brief stop at Tideswell, where the parish church is widely known as "the Cathedral of the Peak".
Then it was on to Hathersage, best known for the grave of Little John in the churchyard.
And the last of the three proper stops was at Matlock Bath, the delightful little town in the Derwent Gorge, which with its cafes, souvenir shops, ice cream and fish and chips has the feel of a seaside town many miles inland.
On the way back to Leicester, we made a coffee and comfort stop at Trowell Services.
As always, everybody thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
