River Derwent (Derby)

[An image showing River Derwent]The Derwent is a lovely river in Derbyshire, which is an attractive feature of the city of Derby and the Peak District.

It rises high up in the Peak District Ntional Park, not far from Holmfirth in Yorkshire, and flows through a number of reservoirs, including the beautiful Ladybower Reservoir .

Then it flows through Hathersage and near Chatsworth, before being joined by the Wye, which has come via Buxton and Bakewell.

It then forms a spectacular gorge through Matlock and Matlock Bath, before running through a World Heritage Site around Cromford and Belper.

After running through Derby itself, the Derwent finally joins the River Trent near Shardlow and Castle Donington.
