Hathersage

Hathersage is a large village in Derbyshire, 8 miles from Bakewell and on the River Derwent.

Popular with walkers, it lies in the Peak District, surrounded by moorland and gritstone edges.

In the churchyard of the 14th century St. Micael`s Church is the grave of Little John, Robin Hood`s lieutenant, who may have been a nail maker from Hathersage.

Hathersage appears as Morton in Charlotte Bronte`s "Jane Eyre". The author visited Hathersage in 1845, and took the name from Eyre family monuments.
