St. Peters Church (Sandwich)
St. Peter's is one of three mediaeval churches still standing in the historic Kent town of Sandwich.
The others are St. Clements Church and St. Marys Church.
As in the case of St. Mary's, the central tower fell down at a low poijnt in Sandwich's prosperity, in 1661. When falling, it demolished the South aisle.
The remaining church dates dates back to the 13th century, but there is evidence of an earlier building on the site.
In the churchyard is a traceried window, brought here from the mediaeval St. Thomas' Hospital, which was founded in 1392.
