Netley Abbey (Netley)

Netley Abbey is a beautiful ruin at Netley in Hampshire.

The Abbey was built by Cistercians from Beaulieu in the 13th century.

Today, the ruins, including the shell of the abbey church and the Abbot`s House, are in a peaceful wooded setting.

At the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII, it was converted into a house.

Since then, the ruins have inspired writers and poets.

Netley Abbey is now in the care of English Heritage.
