Play Close (Melton Mowbray)
Play Close is an attractive public park In the Leicestershire market town of Melton Mowbray.
It is operated, not by the council, but by the local charity known as the Town Estate.
Views from Play Close are dominated by the town's magnificent cathedral-sized St Marys Church.
A double line of trees in the park marks the line of a canal which once ran from Leicester to a basin at Melton Mowbray.
There is an Edwardian bandstand in Play Close, which features brass band concerts in the Summer, and the park has been the scene of annual country shows.
