Old Town Hall (Market Harborough)
The Old Town Hall is one of the prominent buildings in the attractive Leicestershire town of Market Harborough.
It stands in the market infill area, facing traffic coming into the town from the Leicester area, and replaced the mediaeval shambles.
The Old Town Hall was a gift to the town from the Earl of Harborough in 1788, and contained assembly rooms. The Earl wanted to give the town bearing his name something substantial.
Confusingly, the Old Town Hall has never been used as a Town Hall in the accepted sense.
