Gloucester Station (Gloucester)

Gloucester Station serves the historic old cathedral city of Gloucester.

The present station was built in 1977, and replaced another by Lancaster Owen of 1889, which was itself a replacement for an earlier station.

It stands on the edge of the old city area, only a short walk from the City Centre. There are good views of Gloucester Cathedral.

An important line runs down from Birmingham via Worcester and Cheltenham, and continues to Lydney, Chepstow and Cardiff.

Another runs South to Bristol.

A branch line, closed in 1959, ran to Newent and Ledbury.
