Town Hall (Chester)
The Town Hall in Chester is in the centre of the city, beside the Market Square.
It replaced a previous building, known as the Exchange, which burnt down in 1862.
The Town Hall was built between 1865 and 1869 and opened by the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, in 1869. Its tower rises to160 feet, which is higher than the tower of Chester Cathedral.
The building includes the Tourist Information Centre.
