Canterbury West Station (Canterbury)
Canterbury West is one of the two railway stations serving the historic cathedral city of Canterbury, the other being Canterbury East Station.
It is situated just outside the City Walls, not far from the Westgate.
The station was opened in 1846, and has Doric columns.
Trains from this station go to Minster, and from there to either Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate or Sandwich, Deal and Dover.
In the other direction trains run to Ashford (Kent).
One of the country's earliest lines ran from Canterbury West to Whitstable, until its closure in 1931. There was also a line running South to Folkestone.
