Old Mens Hospital (Barrow-upon-Soar)

The Old Mens Hospital is an atmospheric-looking building in the Leicestershire village of Barrow-upon-Soar.

Situated in Church Street, on the corner of Beveridge Street, it is immediately opposite Holy Trinity Church.

The hospital was founded as almshouses by Humphrey Babington in 1686 and built in 1694, in honour of Babingtons uncle Theophilus Cave, who had died in 1656.

It has a big pedimented gateway.

The building is still used for its original purpose, and the village now also has a 19th century Old Women's Hospital.
