Holy Trinity Church (Barrow-upon-Soar)
Holy Trinity Church is the parish church of Barrow-upon-Soar.
The building can be found in Church Street in the centre of the village, and opposite ancient Beveridge Street.
Holy Trinity dates back to the 12th century, but most of what can be seen externally is 19th century, built of the local Mountsorrel granite.
The tower was rebuilt in 1869, after the previous tower collapsed, leaving a cloud of dust that remained in the village for weeks.
William Beveridge was born locally in 1636. His grandfather, father and elder brother were successively incumbents of Holy Trinity. He became acknowledged as an expert on theological matters, and became Bishop of St. Asaph.
Holy Trinity is the starting point for Colin Crosby’s Guided Walks in Barrow-upon-Soar.
