Castle Donington
Castle Donington is a small town, formerly a market town, in Leicestershire, 7 miles from Loughborough.
The castle is no more, but its site can be made out, and there is even a street named "Moat".
There is an air of elegance about the town, which has a good number of timber framed and Georgian houses.
St. Edward's Church, mostly Early English, has a good position in the town centre street named The Borough.
The High Street leads away from the town centre and the former Village Green. On this street there are some very fine houses, including the timber framed Key House.
About a mile outside Castle Donington is Kings Mills. This is now a hotel beside the River Trent, where there was formerly a water mill.
Two important locations just outside the town are the Donington Park racing circuit, and East Midlands Airport.
Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Castle Donington for groups.
