Barmouth

Barmouth is a popular seaside resort in North Wales, at the mouth of the Mawddach estuary, and 8 miles from Dolgellau.

There are amusements, and a passenger ferry to Fairbourne.

The railway bridge, a rare example of a timber viaduct, takes the Cambrian Coast Railway over the estuary, and incorporates a path.

There is a fascinating Shipwreck Museum close to the shore.

It is said that it was here that Jasper Tudor, uncle to the future Henry VII, plotted the downfall of Richard III in the 15th century.

Barmouth's Welsh name is Abermaw.
