York (A Coach Trip in York)

"York" is one of the many Coach Trips devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These trips are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

The coach departs from St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 8am, and is due back around 9.30pm.

Colin, as always, gives a commentary along the way, bringing interesting sights and places to life. This is one of the things that make Colin's trips unique.

York is a very ancient city, and is one of the places most enquired about by visitors from abroad.

The city dates back to Roman times, and was the capital of a Danish kingdom a thousand years ago. It retained its importance throughout the mediaeval period, when it was indisputably the leading city of the North of England, and still flourishes today.

The Archbishop of York is second only in the Church of England hierarchy to the Archbishop of Canterbury.

During this excursion, Colin leads a Guided Walk around York in his inimitable style, pointing out many places of interest, including the magnificent York Minster, the City Walls, The Shambles, St. Mary's Abbey and the Multangular Tower, as well as the impressive River Ouse.
