St. Johns (A Guided Walk in St. Johns)
"St. Johns" is a fascinating Guided Walk devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These strolls are an excellent way of soaking up some Local History.
The starting point for this particular walk is outside the Foxhunter, on the Foxhunter roundabout at St. Johns, where Narborough, Whetstone and Enderby meet.
Along the way Colin visits the mediaeval Enderby Bridge, where not only the road that crossed it, but also the river that flowed under it, have both moved away.
The route takes in Jubilee Park, with a fine view of the confluence of the River Soar and the River Wreake.
There is also an intriguing visit to the site of the deserted mediaeval village of Aldeby, with its scatter of stones marking the site of St. John's Church.
And in addition to all this, there is a stroll along the course of the famous Roman road known as the Fosse Way.
