Nottinghamshire Borders Tour (A Coach Trip in Nottinghamshire)
The “Nottinghamshire Borders Tour” is a Coach Trip devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, who runs trips throughout the year.
These excursions are a most enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.
It is one of the morning trips. These are very popular with people who do not want to be out all day.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 9.30am, and is expected back at about 2pm.
The format for these morning trips is that one stays on the coach most of the time, while Colin gives a commentary, but about halfway round, usually around 11.30am, a stop is made at a pleasant place where one may buy tea, coffee, cakes etc.
This trip concentrates on the borders between Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
Towns and villages in the area, which may well be included in the tour, include the historic old town of Newark; Southwell, with its impressive Minster; Bottesford; and Lowdham.
Running through the area is the River Trent, and also in the vicinity are the Vale of Belvoir and Sherwood Forest.
