Lutterworth (A Guided Walk in Lutterworth)
"Lutterworth" is a Guided Walk devised and led by Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, the well known Blue Badge Guide, as part of his annual programme.
These strolls are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.
The starting point is the impressive Town Hall, in the Market Place of the delightful Leicestershire market town of Lutterworth.
During the walk, Colin points out many places of interest.
These include St. Marys Church, whose 14th century Rector was John Wycliffe, the first man to translate the Bible into English.
The architect of the Town Hall was Joseph Aloysius Hansom, of Hansom cab fame. There is a memorial to Frank Whittle, who did much of his development of the jet engine in Lutterworth, and the headquarters of the Gideons are in the town.
