Weekend at Himley
My wife and I recently spent a weekend at Himley in the West Midlands, courtesy of the Himley Hotel.
On the Friday evening, we had a stroll around what remains of the village, including the park surrounding Himley Hall, and found a restaurant where we had a carvery meal.
On the Saturday, we went out to Kinver, and visited the extraordinary Kinver Rock Houses, carved out of the rock and occupied by families until the 50s.
After that we visited the splendid riverside town of Bewdley, and had dinner in one of the best fish and chip restaurants I have ever been to.
On the Sunday, we attended the morning service at St. Michael and All Angels Church and then came home, by way of Henley-in-Arden and the little-known Norman church of Beaudesert , a short walk from the High Street.
It was a good weekend.
