Hopes of Cornwall Visit Scuppered

My wife Anne and I were all set recently to spend a weekend in Cornwall. It`s not often that we are able to find a time when we can both be free at the same time.

The Cliff Head Hotel, near St. Austell, had put together a weekend for group travel organisers, and we had registered to take part.

The weekend was to include visits to both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Anne had visited the Eden Project a few years ago and was most impressed, and looking forward to going again, but I have not been there. Neither of us have visited the Heligan site.

Unfortunately, a few weeks before the event, I had a call from the hotel to say that they had brought the date forward by a week, and would we still be able to come?

Well, no. It would have been fantastically good luck if we had been free the week before. Among other things, on the Saturday it was my "Winchester" Coach Trip.

So there was a disappointment. With a bit of luck the hotel will organise something similar in the future, and with even more luck we will both be free at the time!

I do hope so.
