High Hopes for Leicestershire Cricket

Another cricket season will be underway in a few weeks.

Leicestershire members will be looking forward to the season much more positively than usual.

In spite of the off-pitch shenanigans of 2010, which did the image of the club no good whatsoever, the second half of the season featured some very good play and some very good results.

The club have a fine crop of young players, notably James Taylor (probably the finest prospect I have seen at Grace Road), Greg Smith, Josh Cobb and Nathan Buck.

In addition to that, the former England fast bowler Matthew Hoggard, a newcomer to captaincy, has instilled an excellent team spirit, and has been helped in his by experienced players Will Jefferson and Paul Nixon, 40 years old and still the most enthusiastic of cricketers.

It should be a good 2011 for the club.

Come to Grace Road, enjoy the cricket, and become a member!
