St. Mary`s Church (Wellingborough)
St. Mary`s Church is an outstanding 20th century church at Wellingborough in Northamptonshire.
It is situated in Knox Road, in a suburb of the town.
The church was designed by Ninian Comper, who regarded it as his best church. He wanted to be buried there, but he has perhaps a more fitting resting place at Westminster Abbey.
Comper began the church in 1908, with money provided by the Misses Sharman, a local landowner`s daughters. It was not, however, completed until the 1950s.
St. Mary`s interior is quite magnificent, with golden angels and a blue and gold Christ in Majesty.
