St. Peter`s Church (Tiverton)
St. Peter`s Church is the parish church of the old Devon town of Tiverton.
It stands on a hillside with its tower overlooking the River Exe, beside the ruins of Tiverton Castle.
There is much adornment on the outside of the church, paid for by John Greenway, who rose from humble beginnings in 15th century Tiverton to become a wealthy London merchatnt venturer.
He added the South porch in 1517.
The organ, built in 1696, was played on the occasion that Mendelssohn`s "Midummer Night`s Dream" music was first used for a wedding.
