St. Peter`s Church (Thornton)
St. Peter`s Church is the parish church of the Leicestershire village of Thornton.
It is situated away from the village street and close to the reservoir.
Parts of the church date back to about 1300, but the chancel was added in 1864.
The West tower is in the Perpendicular style, and has a parapet spire.
The South door is very heavy. It dates from the early 14th centuy, and is believed to have come from Ulverscroft Priory.
The font is octagonal.
There are remains of the Perpendicular rood screen, now in the North aisle, with some paint remaining.
