Verulamium Museum (St. Albans)

The excellent Verulamium Museum is situated in the ancient cathedral city of St. Albans.

It is a modern red brick museum devoted to the important Roman town of Verulamium, the ruins of which lie just outside the modern city.

Verulamium was one of the three cities destroyed by Boudicca during her furious rebellion in 61 AD, the others being Camulodunum (Colchester) and Londinium (London). Although all three were rebuilt, it was a traumatic experience for the Romans.

The Verulamium Museum features interactive displays, Roman and Iron Age artefacts, including mosaics, and imaginative audiovisual presentations.
