Skipton Station (Skipton)
Skipton Station is the railway station that serves the attractive market town of Skipton.
This is the second station in the town, the first having closed in 1876.
It is on a line which leads to the famous Settle and Carlisle Line.
Trains reach Skipton from Leeds via Shipley, Saltaire and Keighley.
They continue to Settle, Kirkby Stephen, Appleby and Carlisle.
A branch line formerly led to the surviving line linking Colne, Nelson and Burnley.
Another branch ran to Grassington, while another led to the surviving branch at Ilkley. Part of this is now the steam Yorkshire Dales Railway.
