Rothesay Castle (Rothesay)

Rothesay Castle is a historic castle at Rothesay on the Isle of Bute.

It was begun in the 13th century as a circular castle, and has curtain walls and towers. The Great Hall dates from the 16th century.

In its earliest days, it was attacked by Vikings.

The castle became a favourite residence of the Stuart Kings of Scotland.

It is now in the care of Historic Scotland.
