Portsmouth Harbour Station (Portsmouth)
Portsmouth Harbour Station is one of two railway stations serving the outstanding maritime city of Portsmouth. The other is Portsmouth and Southsea Station.
It is the terminus of the main line from London, and forms part of what is the best transport interchange in England, collectively known as The Hard Interchange.
In the station forecourt is the Bus Station, which is also used by long distance coaches. At the end of the jetty, a ferry runs to the Isle of Wight, and from a neighbouring pontoon the Portsmouth Harbour ferry runs to Gosport.
Nearby is the Royal Dockyard, an outstanding tourist attraction.
Trains from London leave from Waterloo Station, and arrive at Portsmouth by way of Guildford, Petersfield and Havant.
An important cross country line runs to Southampton, Salisbury, Bath and Bristol.
Another goes to Chichester, Worthing and Brighton.
A short branch line formerly ran to Southsea.
