Portsmouth and Southsea Station (Portsmouth)
Portsmouth and Southsea Station is one of two railway stations in the centre of the outstanding maritime city of Portsmouth. The other is Portsmouth Harbour.
The station is situated in the city centre, just across the road from the main shops in Commercial Road.
It was built in 1866, replacing an earlier station of 1847.
Trains from London leave from Waterloo Station, and reach Portsmouth via Guildford, Petersfield and Havant. The next station, Portsmouth Harbour, is the terminus.
An important cross country line runs to Southampton, Salisbury, Bath and Bristol.
Another line runs to Chichester, Worthing and Brighton.
There was formerly a branch line which ran to Southsea.
