St. Peters Church (Oundle)
St. Peter's is the splendid parish church of the attractive ironstone town of Oundle in Northamptonshire.
Its tower and needle spire rise elegantly above the lanes and alleys of this old market town.
The 210 foot spire has crockets and three tiers of lucarnes, and with the tower dates back to the 14th century.
There is an excellent 15th century porch, Decorated sedilia and a Perpendicular font, and a surprise is the head of a Bishop wearing National Health glasses.
It was at Oundle that the controversial St. Wilfrid died, at a monastery which he had founded.
